Armenian Cinematographers Guild

Founded in 2017 under the presidency of Vahagn Ter-Hakobyan, the Armenian Cinematographers Guild (ACG) quickly established itself as a creative and professional home for Armenian cinematographers. Since its inception, ACG has supported its members’ artistic and technical growth and served as a platform for collaboration and education. ACG has taken an active role in the global cinematography community. In 2022, it represented Armenia at the International Cinematography Summit (ISC) in the United States, marking the beginning of its path toward joining IMAGO, the International Federation of Cinematographers. Just a year later, in 2023, ACG became a full member of IMAGO—a historic step that positioned Armenia on the world cinematography map. In 2024, ACG formally registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO) and revised its charter to open up new avenues for growth. With a renewed focus on education, inclusion, diversity, and international industry engagement, the Guild is now deepening its connections with the Armenian diaspora, inviting filmmakers from around the world to reimagine the future of cinema in the homeland. In 2025, ACG welcomed its first wave of new members, both local and diaspora Armenians, bridging communities through the language of film. In 2025, acclaimed cinematographer Miko Malkhasyan was elected President of the Armenian Cinematographers Guild, with founding president Vahagn Ter-Hakobyan stepping into the role of Vice President. The current board includes Anna Ter-Gabrielyan, Suren Tadevosyan, and Mkhitar Serobyan—bringing together several generations of visual storytellers. Under this leadership, ACG has launched a new chapter focused on education and industry development. Through a series of high-level cinematography masterclasses, the Guild is now offering emerging talent in Armenia and the region access to world-class mentors, tools, and perspectives.

In 2017, the Union of Cinematographers of Armenia made a decision at the general assembly of member cinematographers to create the Armenian Cinematographers Guild and register it as a professional guild.
Vahagn Ter-Hakobyan was elected president. The vice presidents are Miko Malkhasyan and Argo Baroyan. Since 2017, 25 cinematographers have joined the Armenian Cinematographers Guild.

On June 13-17, 2022, the Armenian Cinematographers Guild participated and presented its activities for the first time in the ISC (International Cinematography Summit) organized by the American Society of Cinematographers with the participation of guilds and associations from 38 countries.

Since 2023, the Armenian Guild of Cinematographers is a member of IMAGO (International Federation of Cinematographers).

In 2024, the Armenian Cinematographers Guild became a separate public organization and updated its statute, which gave priority to a number of development directions. According to the new statute, The Guild is led by the 5 Board Members, with one woman member mandatory. The President is elected for a two-year term. The first elections were held in 2025, Miko Malkhasyan ACG was elected a President, Vahagn Ter-Hakobyan ACG was elected a Vice-President, three Board Members were elected Anna Ter-Gabrielyan ACG, Suren Tadevosyan ACG and Mkhitar Serobyan ACG.
